Newport u13, Cadet & Junior Open

Benedict Watson and Anna Hursey won the Junior title respectively at the Newport Open, which took place in the Cities Velodrome.

Benedict beat top seed Yameen Al-Dahiri in the final 3/1 after sweeping aside all other opponents on the way to the title. He will be a force at the National Championships in a months time. Anna beat Lara Whitton in both the Junior and cadet girls finals. It wasn’t all plain sailing for the 11-year-old Commonwealth sensation as she had to navigate through a loss to Lara at the group stages before getting revenge in the final. Lauren Stacey impressed with some good wins herself.

Joseph Roberts beat top seed Ben Allen in the cadet boys final. There are a few players hoping to steal the title in Cardiff at the Nationals shortly. Louie Evans and Jac O’Duffy made the Semis.

It was an Ael y Bryn double in the U13 categories as Evan Williams and Ruby Elliott took the trophies back to the Valleys in their respective finals.
