World Youth Championships Medal Success

Anna Hursey returned to international action following a long standing injury which had kept her out of action since the European Youth Championships in July.

This years World Youth Championships took place between the 2nd and 8th December in Vila Nova, Portugal.

In the U15 Girls Doubles Anna teamed up with Portugals Matilda Pinto. This was the fourth time the pair had teamed up, which had already given the pair success on the WTT Youth circuit this year. This time was no different as the pair came away with the Bronze medal.

Anna narrowly lost out to Ireland’s Sophie Earley 4-3 in the last 16 of the U15 Girls Singles.

“It feels amazing to win a medal at the World Youth Championships, especially after having a injury. Thank you to all the people who have supported me and it’s great to win a medal with Matilda again especially at this tournament” – Anna Hursey

“It’s an incredible achievement to win a medal at a World Championships at any age level and after a very difficult 6 months for Anna she should be so proud of her achievement. Anna has shown great determination and discipline throughout her rehabilitation programme which has allowed her to be ready to compete at this event. Everyone at TTW congratulates Anna on her success and are excited to see what 2022 brings” – Joshua Morgan, National Coach
