Wales to host ITTF World Para Future Cardiff competition in June 2027

Table Tennis Wales to deliver international Para table tennis event at Sport Wales National Centre, supported by Welsh Government and Event Wales.

Table Tennis Wales is delighted to announce that Wales will host an ITTF World Para Future competition from 3–6th June 2027, bringing international Para table tennis to the Sport Wales National Centre in Cardiff.

Delivered by Table Tennis Wales, the four-day competition will welcome Para table tennis players from around the world to compete in Wales and will provide an important opportunity to showcase the sport on an international stage.

The event will be supported by the Welsh Government and Event Wales, helping Wales continue to build its reputation as a destination for major international sporting events.

Cabinet Minister for Culture and Sport, Heledd Fychan, said:

“Wales has established itself as a home for major international sport, and it’s great to add the ITTF World Para Future competition to that list in 2027”.

“This event will shine a spotlight on para table tennis and on the incredible athletes who compete in it, whilst showing the world what Wales has to offer as a host nation. It’s also a fantastic opportunity to inspire people here in Wales to get involved in the sport, whatever their background or ability”.

“Diolch i Table Tennis Wales for their ambition in bringing this competition to Cardiff, and I’m proud that the Welsh Government is able to support them in that.”

Hosting the competition will also provide an opportunity to raise the profile of Para table tennis across Wales, inspire more people to engage with the sport, and showcase the accessibility and inclusivity of table tennis.

The competition will take place from Thursday 3rd June to Sunday 6th June 2027, with further information regarding participating nations, competition schedules, volunteering opportunities and spectators to be announced closer to the event.

Table Tennis Wales will work alongside its partners and the wider table tennis community to ensure the event delivers a high-quality experience for athletes while creating opportunities for people across Wales to engage with international Para sport.

Bydd Tenis Bwrdd Cymru yn cynnal digwyddiad tenis bwrdd i athletwyr para rhyngwladol yng Nghanolfan Genedlaethol Chwaraeon Cymru, gyda chefnogaeth Llywodraeth Cymru a Digwyddiadau Cymru.

Mae Tenis Bwrdd Cymru yn falch o gyhoeddi y bydd Cymru yn cynnal Cystadleuaeth Ryngwladol Athletwyr Para’r Dyfodol yr ITTF o 3 tan 6 Mehefin 2027, gan ddod â thenis bwrdd para rhyngwladol i Ganolfan Genedlaethol Chwaraeon Cymru yng Nghaerdydd.

Bydd y gystadleuaeth, a gynhelir gan Denis Bwrdd Cymru dros bedwar diwrnod, yn croesawu chwaraewyr tenis bwrdd para o bob cwr o’r byd i gystadlu yng Nghymru. Bydd hefyd yn gyfle pwysig i arddangos y gamp ar lwyfan ryngwladol.

Dywedodd Gweinidog y Cabinet dros Ddiwylliant a Chwaraeon, Heledd Fychan:

“Mae Cymru wedi sefydlu ei hun fel cartref i chwaraeon rhyngwladol mawr, ac mae’n wych ychwanegu cystadleuaeth ITTF World Para Future at y rhestr honno yn 2027.

“Bydd y digwyddiad hwn yn rhoi sylw i para tenis bwrdd ac ar yr athletwyr anhygoel sy’n cystadlu, tra’n dangos i’r byd beth sydd gan Gymru i’w gynnig fel y wlad sy’n croesawu’r gamp. Mae hefyd yn gyfle gwych i ysbrydoli pobl yma yng Nghymru i gymryd rhan yn y gamp, beth bynnag fo’u cefndir neu eu gallu.

“Diolch i Tennis Bwrdd Cymru am eu huchelgais i ddod â’r gystadleuaeth hon i Gaerdydd, ac rwy’n falch bod Llywodraeth Cymru yn gallu eu cefnogi yn hynny.”

Bydd Llywodraeth Cymru a Digwyddiadau Cymru yn cefnogi’r digwyddiad, gan helpu Cymru i barhau i fagu ei henw da fel cyrchfan ar gyfer digwyddiadau chwaraeon rhyngwladol mawr.

Bydd cynnal y gystadleuaeth hefyd yn gyfle i godi proffil tenis bwrdd para ledled Cymru. Yn ogystal, bydd yn ysbrydoli mwy o bobl i ymwneud â’r gamp ac arddangos pa mor hygyrch a chynhwysol yw tenis bwrdd.

Dywedodd Owen Rodgers, Prif Weithredwr Tenis Bwrdd Cymru:

“Rydym yn hynod falch y bydd Cymru yn cynnal Cystadleuaeth Ryngwladol Athletwyr Para’r Dyfodol yr ITTF yn 2027. Mae sicrhau digwyddiad para rhyngwladol o’r safon hon yn foment bwysig i Tenis Bwrdd Cymru ac yn adlewyrchu ein huchelgais i ddod â mwy o denis bwrdd o’r radd flaenaf i Gymru.

“Edrychwn ymlaen at groesawu athletwyr, hyfforddwyr a swyddogion o bob cwr o’r byd i Gaerdydd ac i gynnal cystadleuaeth ragorol yng Nghanolfan Genedlaethol Chwaraeon Cymru.

“Rydym yn hynod ddiolchgar am gefnogaeth Llywodraeth Cymru, Digwyddiadau Cymru a Chwaraeon Cymru wrth ein helpu i ddod â’r digwyddiad hwn i Gymru. Y tu hwnt i’r gystadleuaeth ei hun, rydym am i’r digwyddiad ysbrydoli pobl ledled Cymru, codi proffil tenis bwrdd para, a chreu gwaddol parhaol i’n camp.”

Cynhelir y gystadleuaeth o ddydd Iau, 3 Mehefin, i ddydd Sul, 6 Mehefin 2027. Bydd manylion pellach am y gwledydd sy’n cymryd rhan, amserlenni’r cystadlaethau, a chyfleoedd i wirfoddoli a gwylio yn cael eu cyhoeddi’n agosach at y digwyddiad.

Bydd Tenis Bwrdd Cymru yn gweithio ochr yn ochr â’i bartneriaid a’r gymuned tenis bwrdd ehangach i sicrhau bod y digwyddiad yn rhoi profiad gwerth chweil i athletwyr wrth greu cyfleoedd i bobl ledled Cymru ymddiddori mewn chwaraeon para rhyngwladol.
