Penultimate weekend sees fantastic action in Senior Team Championships of Wales

The penultimate weekend of the Senior Team Championships of Wales took place over the weekend of Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 February at the prestigious Sport Wales National Centre.

The competition saw 54 teams compete across nine divisions with over 220 players representing their club through the season.

Premier

It was another fiercely contested year in the Premier Division, but Rhondda A, represented by Callum Evans, Louie Evans, and Harri Docherty, emerged victorious to claim the title of Champions of Wales for the third consecutive year. Swansea University A finished four points behind the winners, with Swansea A following closely behind, trailing by just a single point.

Individually, Callum Evans and Harri Docherty led the averages, both achieving an impressive 90% win rate.

Division 1

Swansea C claimed the top spot in Division 1 this year, finishing three points ahead of Swansea University B, while Gwent A secured third place. The competition was intense, with Swansea University B drawing three matches and Gwent A drawing two, highlighting the closely fought battles throughout the division.

Individually, Ian Parkyn delivered a flawless performance, topping the averages with a perfect 100% win rate, winning all 12 of his matches.

Division 2

North Gwent B dominated Division 2, securing the title with a perfect record of 20 wins out of 20. Northop claimed the silver position, while Gwent B followed closely behind to take bronze. The competition was fierce, with both Northop and Gwent B drawing four matches each in tightly contested battles.

Individually, Reece Lo delivered an outstanding performance, topping the averages with a flawless 100% record, winning all 12 of his matches.

Division 3

Gwent C stormed Division 3, finishing the season with an impressive undefeated record, securing nine wins and a draw. Swansea University C claimed the runner-up spot, while Bridgend had a solid performance to earn the bronze position.

Alain Shibu stood out in individual performance, topping the averages with a flawless record, maintaining a perfect 100%.

Division 4

Division 4 saw another tightly contested competition, but Rhiwbina remained undefeated, securing victory with nine wins and one draw. Cardiff C put in a strong performance to take the silver position, while North Gwent C narrowly claimed third place, edging ahead by just a single point.

Individually, Daniel Felton topped the averages with an outstanding 95% win rate, winning 19 out of his 20 matches.

Division 5

Swansea F dominated the division, securing the top spot with a perfect score of 20 points by winning all 10 of their matches. Rhondda E put in a strong performance to claim second place, while Carmarthen B battled hard to earn the bronze position.

In the individual standings, Jacob Davies and Nye Evans were joint first in the averages, both achieving an impressive 95% win rate by winning 19 out of their 20 matches.

Division 6

Rhondda D had the perfect tournament, winning all 10 of their matches in dominant fashion. North Gwent D put up a strong performance to secure the silver position, while Fishguard fought hard to claim third place on the podium.

Dylan Williams and Oliver Harvey topped the averages with perfect 100% records, highlighting their outstanding performances throughout the competition.

Division 7

Swansea G had a fantastic weekend, going undefeated with nine wins and one draw to secure the top spot. Rhondda F put in a strong performance to claim second place, while Cardiff University A closely followed, finishing just a single point behind to take third.

Jayden Tang delivered an impressive performance, topping the averages with a strong 90%-win rate.

Division 8

Penlan dominated the competition with a perfect record, winning all 10 of their matches. Gwent G secured a well-earned second place, while Cardiff Uni B claimed third by the narrowest of margins, finishing just one point behind.

Zac Scrine was the standout individual performer, topping the averages with an impressive 95% win rate.
