Lara Whitton Lifts Junior British League Title
Lara Whitton, playing for Wensum TTC along with English teammates Mari Baldwin, Amy Marriott and Gemma Kerr, won the 2021/22 British Junior League Girls Title after the team goes unbeaten all season. Junior British League is played over 2 weekends and see’s the best juniors in the country battle out for the title. Whitton played a big part in Wensum TTC’s success finishing 2nd in the league averages winning 87.5% of her matches.

In the boy’s league Louie Evans, playing for Ackworth eBaTT alongside Felix Thomis and Jie Fu Tham, took the silver medal in Division 1. Evans was a key part of the Ackworth eBaTT team wining 80% of his matches and finishing the season 3rd the Division 1 averages.

Overall, there was a total of 11 Welsh players that took part in the Junior British League this season. Which saw a debut season for Welsh based team Sophia Gardens who had a boy’s and girl’s team. The boy’s team, made up of Harri Docherty, Evan O’Conner, Oscar Marriott and Elis O’Conner, finished their division 6 campaign unbeaten (Win – 4, Draw – 6, Loss – 0). The team was led by Harri Docherty who went the whole season unbeaten winning all 18 of his matches. Despite an unbeaten run the team finished 3rd on countback. The Sophia Gardens girl’s team finished the season in 4th place in division 2. The team made up of Ruby Elliott, Darcey Taylor, Sasha Lewis and Matilda Simms put a great display over both weekends with 3 out of the 4 players making their Junior British League debuts.
There were also appearances for Grace Clement during the first weekend in November 2021 for Archway Peterborough who went on to finish 4th in the girl’s Premier Division while Rhys Hetherton appeared for Grantham College 2 in the second weekend who finished 4th in the boy’s First Division.
