ITTF Czech Youth Open

Anna Hursey finished a successful ITTF Czech Youth Open with a Silver & 2 Bronze medals

The Silver came in the Junior Doubles where she teamed up with Irish friend Sophie Earley to astonish everyone in the event as two 13 year olds reaching the U18 final. They lost out to a fired up Italian/Belarus combo in a tight encounter.

The 2 Bronze medals came in the Cadet team and Cadet doubles as Anna and Sophie joined with Portugal player Matilda Pinto. They lost in the semis 3/2 to Russia with Anna winning both her matches. In the doubles Anna & Sophie could not repeat their Junior run and lost in the semi finals to Chinese Taipei.

In the singles Anna lost to Miwa Hariomoto in the QF (cadets) 1/3 and Riliskyte Last 16 (Juniors) 2/4.

Other players in action was Louie Evans who had a fantastic win against Marco Cappuccio, the world number 50, 3/1 in the Junior Boys team. Louie teamed up with 2 Ukraine partners but were unable to progress through. Rhys Hetherton didn’t make it through his Cadet Group but fought really well, as he did in the cadet team with an Indian and English player.

The Junior Girls of Grace Clement, Danielle Kelly & Beth Richards had a few battles with Serbia, Sweden and Spain. Danielle picked up a great win vs Spain in the final team match. The girls were unable to progress in their singles groups but showed great promise.
