Great engagement as school gather for 2026 Central South Primary School Championships
The 2026 Central South Primary School Championships were held on Thursday 19th March at the Sport Wales National Centre, and what an enjoyable day of table tennis it was!
26 teams from across 13 different schools took part in the competition and they all battled it out for the winner’s trophy. There were schools from Cardiff, Bridgend, Rhondda and Vale of Glamorgan all fighting for the top spot.
The event was played in two group stages with four groups of five and a group of six in the morning and in the afternoon. All players got lots of matches against different players from different schools, and the table tennis on show was excellent. The morning matches started strong with the afternoon matches being more evenly contested with amazing rallies and results throughout.

In first place was the partnership of Reuben Francis Li from Peterston Super Ely Primary and Rushdan Shariff from Gwauncelyn Primary. In second place was Cwmlai A, represented by Sophie Williams and Evie Gowen, and in third place was the pairing of Aadya Pulluri from Cymmer Primary and Oakley Johnson from Ynyshir Primary.
A massive thank you goes to all parents, players and volunteers who brought their children along and to the volunteers who helped out on the day, especially the Young Ambassadors from Newport Live who worked tirelessly all day! The event couldn’t have happened without everyone’s support.
Well done to all schools and players who took part in the competition; Table Tennis Wales look forward to running next year’s event!
