Day 1 – Results
Titles were fought for on day 1 of the Welsh Nationals at Sport Wales National Centre
In the Cadet Boys, Rhys Hetherton made it through to the final after a small scare against Harri Docherty in the group. Coming through that 3/2, Rhys beat Jayden Meadows in the semis. Jayden had his own battle in the group as he and Evan O’Connor all shared 1 win and 1 loss with Toby Harwood. Toby missed out on progressing due to games difference.
With Harri losing to Rhys it meant he went into the bottom half and played Evan O’Connor in the semis. Evan won that battle but couldn’t find a way past Rhys in the final.
Anna Hursey returned from the ITTF Czech & Swedish Open to win the cadet girls beating both Sasha Lewis & Ruby Elliott in a 3 way competition. Ruby was runner up beating Sasha.
In the Over 50 singles, Dennis Bromage beat Ray Goulding to the title with a 3/1 win. Mark Simon and Mark Farrow were semi finalist respectively.
