Champions crowned at Cardiff Grand Prix
There was plenty to be excited about for Wales at December’s Cardiff Grand Prix, as the Welsh duo of Callum Evans and Yeh Tsz Yan Nancy were victorious at the 4* event in the Welsh capital.
Amid a host of strong competition, Welsh number one Evans claimed the Men’s Singles title while Welsh fourth seed Nancy earned the Women’s Singles crown.
Both showed fantastic form and spirit to achieve the accolades.
Evans overcame the challenge of Gabriel Schogger in the final four before sealing victory with a win over Olivier Chu, while Nancy, after beating Alexsandra Titievskaja in the semi-final, overcame the tournament’s top seed, Hannah Silcock, in the final.

Despite defeat in the Men’s Singles final, the sold-out event was one to remember for Chu, though, as well as Umair Mauthoor.
Both players went home as double winners, Chu beating Schogger to walk away with the Men’s U21 title as well as victory in the Band 3 event, and Mauthoor winning against Titievskaja to head home with the Restricted Singles crown as well as that of the Band 1 event.
To accompany her two final losses, however, Titievskaja could go home with her head held high courtesy of her success in the Women’s Band 1 event, claiming the title with victory over Lok Yee Lo.
And despite defeat in the Women’s Singles final, Silcock was buoyed by her success in the Women’s U21 event, beating Alyssa Nguyen to claim that one.
In the Veterans’ Singles event, Colin Green earned victory thanks to a win over Liwu Wei in the final.
