Birmingham Final Day 12 Match Report
Well that’s a wrap for Birmingham 2022 but what a final day!
Charlotte and Anna stepped on court this morning in a bid to win bronze against Wong and Zhou of Singapore. The first set was tense, there was controversy over a point given to the Singapore pairing but the Welsh duo were victorious 16-14. One set up there was no stopping the Welsh pair and they won a remarkable second set 14-12. Bronze was insight but the Singapore pair fought hard and took the third set. Anna and Charlotte gave their all in the fourth set, some phenomenal rallies were witnessed and victory was theirs! Wales secured a second table tennis medal in the NEC on day 11 of the Games.
Charlotte and Anna become the first Welsh woman to win a Commonwealth Games table tennis medal to add to Joshua Stacey becoming our first Games gold medalist.
The bronze medal was the 28th Welsh medal of B2022. After the rollercoaster of the Women’s team event this medal was special.
