Table Tennis Wales impress at AG Linz 2026
Table Tennis Wales athletes delivered a series of strong and encouraging performances at the AG Linz Open 2026 event across the age groups, highlighting the depth of emerging talent within the Welsh pathway.
One of the standout stories of the competition came in the U13 team event, where Alfie Giles and Dylan Williams combined to secure a bronze medal in the consolation competition. For Alfie, the event marked a particularly special milestone as it was his first appearance on the international stage. He rose to the occasion impressively, while Dylan’s experience and consistency helped guide the pair to a well-deserved podium finish.

In the U19 team event, Toby Harwood and Harry Street faced a difficult draw against strong opposition early on, but despite this, they produced several excellent performances. Their ability to compete at a high level against tough opponents was a real positive, setting the tone for Toby’s later success in the singles event.
Toby went into the consolation after two close losses in his group to enjoy an outstanding run in the U19 singles consolation, battling through a competitive field to secure a silver medal.

In the U17 category, Amelie David and Lily Walters worked well together in the team event, finishing in a credible 7th place overall. Their partnership showed promise throughout, with both players contributing important matches against strong European opposition.
Lily, just like Toby went into the consolation after a tough first group but didn’t give up, reaching the final of the U17 singles consolation event and claiming a silver medal.

Another highlight came from Ffion Evans and Penny Muil, who formed a highly effective partnership. The pair played brilliantly together, producing some exceptional team results across the event. Their doubles performances were a particular strength, with strong communication allowing them to compete successfully against high-level opponents. Penny also stood out individually, recording an impressive win rate that underlined her growing confidence and continued development on the international stage. She was one of only two players to make it into the main draw of the singles event.
Overall, AG Linz 2026 proved to be a very positive experience for Table Tennis Wales. With multiple medal-winning performances, valuable international exposure, and a number of standout individual and team displays, the event showcased the exciting future of Welsh table tennis.
