Six Nations Veterans Table Tennis Tournament 5th-8th September 2019 held in Perth Scotland

Perth, Scotland

The Wales team consisting of Neil Wright, Steve Green, Jane Reeks, Natasha Hurd, Mark Simon, Mark Farrow, Tony Collins, David Lloyd, Mark Edmunds, John Paine, Lesley Keast, Christina Wright, Ray Goulding, John Hook, Gareth Dommett, Helen Levy, Peter Gordon, Colin Price, Barrie Russ, William Haddon, Harold Furber, Dennis Bromage, Tony Bartram and Roger Thomas competed for Wales at this highly competitive tournament

Each year the tournament is played at either Scotland, Ireland, Jersey, Isle of Man, Guernsey, Wales or England. Teams competing in their respective age groups of over 40, over, 50, over 60, over 70 and over 75 played on the Thursday to Saturday with singles taking place on the Sunday

This year it was played at the Belles Sport Centre in Perth, Scotland, over 4 days. In the team event the pairing of Jane Reeks and Natasha Hurd in the over 40s ladies won the blue-ribbon Gold medal. Jane and Natasha then went on to win the over 40s ladies doubles gold medal on the Saturday, a clean sweep. This was truly a historical moment for Welsh Veterans Table Tennis

In the over 75s team event, the team of Dennis Bromage, Roger Thomas and Tony Bartram won the team Silver medal. This was a fantastic achievement and maintains Wales high ranking in this highly competitive age group. A special mention goes to Dennis who stepped into the Wales Delegate role at the last moment

Gold Winners – Over 40s

In the singles event that took place on the Sunday, Lesley Keast won the ladies 50s singles main event, this was a tremendous achievement retaining her title from 2018

Over 75 team

Other significant achievements were Peter Gordon who won the over 60s consolation Gold, Tony Bartram won the over 70s consolation Gold, Mark Edmunds won the over 50s consolation Gold and William Haddon won the over 70s consolation silver. Everyone had a great time and enjoyed the comradeship that our wonderful game brings
