Table Tennis Wales to deliver Food and Fun sessions this summer
Table Tennis Wales will collaborate with the Welsh Local Government Association (WLGA) for the second time this summer, to deliver Food and Fun sessions.
The objective is to work with schools in local communities that have perhaps never had the opportunity to give table tennis a go.
Through collaboration with Food and Fun we are aiming to inspire and engage young people across Wales throughout the summer holidays to get involved and be more active with table tennis and, more generally, with sport.
We hope to achieve this through fun, exciting and engaging games to involve all young people with different abilities and backgrounds.
“On the Go” equipment packs will be made available to each school.
In turn, we will be able to address the demand for the sport highlighted in the Sport Wales School Sport Survey.
Starting as a pilot run by Cardiff Council almost a decade ago, Food and Fun is a school-based education programme that provides food and nutrition education, physical activity, enrichment sessions, and healthy meals to children during the school summer holidays.
The campaign has developed into a national, fully funded Welsh Government programme administered by the WLGA.
In 2023, 175 schools delivered the programme and provided over 11,150 places for children each day that it ran.
