Team Wales report.


Over the 9 th, 10th and 11th of September, The Table Tennis Welsh Veteran team competed against the elite veteran players from England, Scotland, Ireland, Isle of Man, Guernsey and Jersey at the National Sports Centre in the Isle of Man. The players competing from across Wales are shown below as: front row Steve Eades and Tony Needham, middle row left to right Ian Ault, Paul Collins, Jeff Rigby, Colin Price, Steve Green, Jane Reeks, Mark Edmunds and John Hook, rear row left to right Peter Gordon, John Paine, Paul Holliday, Danny Harris and Bryan Fernandes.


Players competed in the following age groups: Over 40, Over 50, Over 60, Over 70 and Over 75. Wales secured the following successes: Gold in the over 60s men’s singles went to Steve Eades, Silver in the over 70s men’s singles went to Tony Needham and Silver in the over 75s men’s singles went to Dennis Bromage. Bryan Fernandes came runner up in the over 50s men’s plate.

In the doubles events: Gold went to Paul Collins and Tony Needham in the over 70s men’s, Silver in the over 60s men’s doubles went to Steve Eades & Tony Collins and Jane Reeks secured a silver in the over 60s ladies doubles with her partner from Ireland, Teresa Devaney. In the team events: The over 70s team of Paul Collins, Tony Needham and Dennis Bromage won Silver and the over 50s team of John Paine, Bryan Fernandes, Jeff Rigby, Ian Ault won Bronze.
