COVID 19 NOTICE
Last updated at 4pm on the 29th April 2020 (please check the website daily for any further updates)
The last month has seen a fast pace of change across the world with the impact of coronavirus on communities and sport. This statement outlines the measures that TTW are taking to protect our players, volunteers and staff during these difficult times.
ITTF Events– With the spread of COVID-19 across different parts of the world, the ITTF suspended all international activity until the 30th June 2020. This has resulted in numerous events being cancelled or postponed including the World Championships in Busan which is now scheduled for 27th September-4th October 2020.
TTW Events– To protect all players, volunteers and spectators, all TTW events are cancelled until 30th June 2020. We have also decided to cancel the U3A event which was due in October. We will closely monitor Government recommendations regarding our other events this year and for when we can restart Welsh squad sessions.
Remote working– all TTW staff are working at home and have been using technology to keep in touch with/supporting Welsh squad players, continuing development work with clubs and meeting as a Board.
Future planning– given the uncertainly around how long the lockdown will continue for and how the phased return will impact on delivering table tennis, TTW are scenario planning for how we can prepare and protect the sport during this crisis. We are feeding into the Welsh Sports Association forums to ensure that the sport’s needs are being considered and lobbied at Government level.
Emergency Grants– Sport Wales and the WCVA have released a range of grants that are aimed at supporting sports clubs during this crisis. Please get in touch if you need any support applying.
Club support– We would welcome your feedback on any help and support that you need in your local club at these difficult times as we want to ensure that we all come out of the crisis positively.
