Perth Open

 

Rashad Al-Dahiri will be part of the Welsh team heading to Perth on Saturday 13th & Sunday 14th October. The Bridgend born player will be joined by his brother Yameen, who competed at the recent European Youth Championships in Romania. The other male player sees a return to the Welsh set up for Marc Castro of Swansea. The University academy student last played for Wales at the 2017 Luxembourg Open where he competed well at his first senior competition.

 

Beth Roberts, who has just relocated to Shrewsbury with work, heads up the female players selected. Beth played extremely well at the World Championships in April and will hope to build on that with places available for the Commonwealth Championships in India next July. Beth is joined by Lydia John, who is back from Sweden and now trains at Grantham College. Lydia had a busy Summer in Belgium & Germany. Morgan Day-Davies is recalled to the team after last competing at the International Schools in June which was held in Worcester University.

 

On Saturday, there is an organised Wales v Scotland match and on Sunday the players will take part in the Perth Open (A Scottish ranking event)
